My current work focuses on development and improvement of optical setups for the characterization of soft matter, especially on complex matter in shear flows and temperature gradients.

Education / Research experience

since 2002 Scientific Researcher, at the Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH, Institute of Complex Systems, ICS-3.
2000 – 2002 Research with Prof. Fytas at the Max-Planck-Institut für Polymerforschung in Mainz on phonons in colloidal systems.
1996 – 2000 Work for a retail business in database development and network administration.
1995 Post-doc at the University of Maryland, College Park, Department of Chemical Engineering, in the group of Prof. R. Calabrese.
1993 PhD thesis in physics with Prof. Staude, University of Bremen,  on a direct optical method for determination of instantaneous velocity gradients in turbulent flow.
1987 Diploma in physics, University of Bremen, Germany.
